Death Cab For Cutie
Narrow Stairs è il titolo del nuovo album dei Death Cab For Cutie in uscita a maggio. E’ stato annunciato dalla band come “più rumoroso, più dissonante e… abrasivo”, dato che Gibbard, Walla e compagni non si sentono in obbligo di dover dimostrare ancora qualcosa e quindi si sono sentiti liberi di fare un album con il suono che più preferiscono. Le premesse sono indubbiamente interessanti, forse potranno deludere i fan dei DCFC vecchio stile, ma il primo singolo conferma che non è proprio il caso di aspettarsi un nuovo Transatlanticism. I Will Possess You Heart è costituita da un intro strumentale di ben quattro minuti, un giro di basso su cui si inseriscono chitarre riverberate, sporadiche tastiere ed infine la batteria, con una struttura di circa trenta secondi che sembra ripetersi in loop sino all’arrivo dell’inconfondibile voce di Gibbard. Ricorda per certi aspetti alcuni pezzi dei The Secret Machines, e questo per me non è affatto un male. Di certo preferisco questa evoluzione piuttosto che un altro Plans. Ed una copertina così non poteva mancare in questo spazio azzurrognolo…
